How do I book a suit for someone overseas or that cannot visit your store?
There is a measurement form available on the website. They can go to a local suit hire or tailoring company and get measured. It is recommended that the measurements are done professionally where possible. We recommend the suits be tried in-store before collection and we will make any necessary alterations when they come in.
Where they can not come into the store, we recommend you collect the suit a couple of days early so we have time to send you an alternative if it is not quite right.

As soon as you have made a decision on your hire, it pays to confirm your booking. We will not reserve your suit for you until you have confirmed (a $30 deposit is required to confirm this will come off the total cost of your hire and is not a bond)

What do I wear?

For a Black Tie function?

A Dinner suit or Tuxedo is suitable for a Black Tie event, with a formal shirt and Bow tie (any colour) and a waistcoat or Cummerbund is recommended. In Stating Black Tie your hosts are saying they expect you to dress for the occasion, it is in poor taste to offend your hosts by attending in less.

When the invitation says White Tie?

Evening tails, Marcella front wing collar shirt, white Marcella Waistcoat, Black cummerbund and White satin or Marcella bow tie, depending on the invitation white gloves may also be required.  White tie is for extremely formal events, and the correct state of dress must be adhered to, this is not an optional state of dress.

When the invitation says ‘Lounge Suit’?

A Lounge suit is a business suit, with shirt and tie, and optional waistcoat.

What is the difference between a business suit and a Dinner suit?
The main differences between a dinner and a business suit is that a dinner suit has satin lapels and satin covered buttons, a Dinner suit is a more formal and traditional form of dress.
A business suit is primarily worn for less formal events and has plain fabric lapel and usually plastic buttons.

Can I wear a business suit to a Black tie function?
It is not recommended to wear a business suit to a Black Tie function. A business suit is worn for less formal occasions, but a Black Tie function has very specific dinner attire requirements.
Frank Casey Snr used to say, 'Be the Best man you can be, don't dress down for anyone, and they will assume you are in charge'

Do you see any trends in the style of suit grooms are choosing?

Currently, the slim-fitting business suits, in two or three-piece, in black, shades of grey or Blue, are very popular for the more causal Weddings, along with the more traditional Morning suits and Dinner suits which are always popular for the more formal Weddings.

Most Brides and Grooms will have a firm idea in mind of what they are after. The great thing about Frank Casey's is the opportunity to create the look you want and if we do not have what you want in store, we will locate it for you through our extensive network.

What about for the rest of the wedding party?

It’s very important that the wedding party coordinate with the groom, matching suits and coordinating ties and accessories. The father of the bride and father of the groom should also dress accordingly. They do not have to match the groom’s suit, but they should be the same level of formality. For example, for a more formal wedding they should wear a dinner suit, or if the groom is wearing a Morning suit, the fathers should also wear one.

What should the Father of the Bride and Groom wear?
The fathers should be dressed in a similar style to each other, keeping the same level of ‘formality’ as each other (not one out dressing the other) and in keeping with the wedding party, this is very important for the photos and identifying them as a person of importance at the wedding.

The environment
Have you considered the environmental cost of buying a suit you will only wear once, the cost to the environment of making the garment, transporting it to New Zealand for you to wear for the evening? Hire is the ultimate recycling, we have it made, you wear it, you return it to us, it gets dry-cleaned by our environmentally friendly dry-cleaner (Regal Dry-cleaners in Newmarket) and then it goes out for someone else to wear. Perfect planet friendly suit.
