SUIT HIRE FAQs

How far in advance do I need to book?

For a Wedding

For a Wedding, we recommend you book 2 – 3 months in advance; this ensures that you get the look you are after before someone else does.

For a Black Tie event?

As soon as you get the invitation we recommend you book, Black tie events are often large events and you have many people booking for the same event.

We can do last minute hires but it is in your best interest to book as soon as you can.

We will always make sure we can do something for you so you look the part.

For a School Ball?

We recommend booking at least 2 weeks before the School Ball, we can do bookings right up to the big night if its last minute, but to get a good selection book in advance.

Do I need to come in for a fitting to book?
We do need your measurements to make a booking for you, we recommend you visit your closest store to try on and book your suit. If you cannot visit a store, the measurement form on our web site can be sent to your selected store to book.

What if I have hired before?
If you have hired from a Frank Casey store in the past, we will have your measurements on file, just contact that branch you wish to collect from to make a booking.

How do I book a suit for someone overseas or that cannot visit your store?
There is a measurement form available on the website and in-store. They can go to a local suit hire or tailoring company and get measured. It is recommended that the measurements are done professionally where possible. The suits must be tried in-store before collection and we will make any necessary alterations when they come in.

How soon do I need to confirm booking?
As soon as you have made a decision on your hire, it pays to confirm your booking. We will not reserve your suit for you until you have confirmed.

Is there a charge for trying on suits?
There is no charge for coming in and trying on suits, you need to try it on to see what looks good on you. There is a style to suit everyone, but not every style suits everyone.

Do you charge a bond?
No we do not charge a bond. You pay a deposit when you book your suit and this comes off the total cost of the hire and is not an additional fee.

For weddings, each suit in the wedding party needs to be confirmed with a deposit, to guarantee availability of styles and sizes.

Is the deposit refundable upon returning of suits or cancellation?
The deposit acts as a booking fee and is non-refundable.

How long is the hire period?
The standard hire period is overnight for week day hire or Friday to Monday for weekend hire. We are flexible on the hire period and will work with you.

There is no extra charge for collecting the day before the event.

Extended hire is available, sometimes at no extra charge. Please contact your local store for further details.

How much is the hire per day?
The hire price list indicates the standard hire period rate (see above for the length of the standard hire period)

What sizes are available?
The sizes range from style to style, as a general guide suits are available for children from around 3 years, to adult’s sizes 84cm chest to 156 chest and trousers from 72cm to 132cm.

What if the store I visit is out of my size?
There is a large inventory of suits between  stores. We can ‘borrow’ garments from other Frank Casey stores provided you have booked far enough in advance. Not available for same day hires or school ball specials.

Can I fit my suit at one store and collect from another?
Yes, just let the staff member know and the will send the measurements to the store you wish to collect from.

When do I collect my suit?

Can I have my suit sent to me?
We would be happy to arrange a courier for you at a minimal additional charge.

Do I have to clean my suit before I return it?
No, Frank Casey’s dry-cleans every garment after you have used it.

What do I wear?

For a Black Tie function?

A Dinner suit or Tuxedo is suitable for a Black Tie event, with a formal shirt and Bow tie (any colour) and a waistcoat or Cummerbund is recommended. In Stating Black Tie your hosts are saying they expect you to dress for the occasion, it is in poor taste to offend your hosts by attending in less.

When the invitation says White Tie?

Evening tails, Marcella front wing collar shirt, white Marcella Waistcoat, Black cummerbund and White satin or Marcella bow tie, depending in the invitation white gloves may also be required.  White tie is for extremely formal events, and the correct state of dress must be adhered to, this is not an optional state of dress.

When the invitation says ‘Lounge Suit’?

A Lounge suit is a business suit, with shirt and tie, and optional waistcoat.

What is the difference between a business suit and a Dinner suit?
The main differences between a dinner and a business suit is that a dinner suit has satin lapels and satin covered buttons, a Dinner suit is a more formal and traditional form of dress.
A business suit is primarily worn for less formal events, and has plain fabric lapel and usually plastic buttons.

Can I wear a business suit to a Black tie function?
It is not recommended to wear a business suit to a Black Tie function. A business suit is worn for less formal occasions, but a Black Tie function has very specific dinner attire requirements.
Frank Casey Snr used to say, 'Be the Best man you can be, dont dress down for anyone, and they will assume you are in charge'

Do you see any trends in the style of suit grooms are choosing?

Currently, the slim-fitting business suits, in two or three-piece, in black, shades of grey or Blue, are very popular for the more causal Weddings, along with the more traditional Morning suits and Dinner suits which are always popular for the more formal Weddings.

Most Brides and Grooms will have a firm idea in mind of what they are after. The great thing about Frank Casey's is the opportunity to create the look you want and if we do not have what you want in store, we will locate it for you through our extensive network.

What about for the rest of the wedding party?

It’s very important that the wedding party coordinate with the groom, matching suits and coordinating ties and accessories. The father of the bride and father of the groom should also dress accordingly. They do not have to match the groom’s suit, but they should be the same level of formality. For example, for a more formal wedding they should wear a dinner suit, or if the groom is wearing a Morning suit, the fathers should also wear one.

What should the Father of the Bride and Groom wear?
The fathers should be dressed in a similar style to each other, keeping in the same level of ‘formality’ as each other (not one out dressing the other) and in keeping with the wedding party, this is very important for the photos and identifying them as a person of importance at the wedding.
